Dynamic Structures chosen to build new Crestview athletic facility

COLUMBIANA -- A company has been chosen for the construction of the new athletic facility for the Crestview Local School District.
During a special board of education meeting on Monday the board approved hiring Dynamic Structures for the work.
The company has offices in New Waterford and East Palestine and was one of three companies to submit a bid proposal for the project.
The stand alone facility is planned to be constructed in the parking lot next to the football field and will include men's and women's locker rooms, a turf area, retractable baseball/softball cages and a weight room on the second floor.
The project is separate from the PK-12 building project currently underway at Crestview.
District officials said the new campus facility will not have locker rooms or weight rooms, making the new athletic complex the main facility for all Crestview student athletes.
District Superintendent Dan Hill said the athletic facility will cost around $1.4 million and will come from the district's general fund.
Hill said the district is "saving two to three times the money" by going with a stand alone facility instead of including one in the new campus.
He said that the stand alone facility resulted in a more reasonable cost based on projected square footage.
"We are utilizing money that the district had originally intended for athletics in the new school building," he said, adding that, "we instead decided to allocate it into a stand alone athletic facility that could be used 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, if we desire."
The school district anticipates the new athletic complex will be completed by January of 2025.
