Wellsville top three head to county bee

WELLSVILLE -- After nine rounds of spelling Wellsville Local Schools found their three top spellers from the 20 students who competed in the school's spelling bee on Tuesday.
Austin Dotson, eighth grade, placed first; Brock Davis, seventh grade, placed second; and Brennan McDowell, eighth grade, placed third.
The three students will represent Wellsville at the Columbiana County Spelling Bee to be held at Beaver Local Schools.
The spelling bee went six rounds to narrow down to the top three and then Austin and Brock battled it out for three rounds to determine the winner.
The winning word was "sacred."
