Salem Bible Church names lead pastor

SALEM - On Sunday, Jan. 28, Associate Pastor Ben DeMar of Salem Bible Church was unanimously voted on to be the lead pastor of the church, and Pastor Doug DeMar to be retained as the founding pastor.
Salem Bible Church is the fruit of a church planting ministry of Pastor Doug and Valerie DeMar, begun in 1979. The church has an emphasis on expository Bible teaching, prayer, missions, and discipleship. Pastor Ben DeMar was trained at the church in theology, hermeneutics and homiletics, and ministry classes for a period of years and has experience in Bible teaching, discipling, nursing home ministries, wedding and funeral officiating, and various outreach ministries. Ben and his wife Heather have three young girls, Alice, Pearl and Eva.
Pastor Ben's appointment as lead pastor is a milestone for the church, ensuring the continuance of the SBC ministry for the next generation.
Pastor Bill Hixson of Athens Bible Church will be speaking this Sunday, Feb. 4, on the subject of transition. A luncheon at the church will follow, to which all are welcome.
