Town and Country Garden Club

2 min read

The Town and Country Garden Club of East Palestine had its first meeting of the year Jan. 8, with 12 members present. President Darlene Exposito welcomed all members. Diana Holzer said prayer before snack and social time. Pizza and chips were served, provided by the officers of the garden club.

The pledge was said, roll call taken. Under Old Business, no minutes read because the meeting date in December was the Annual Christmas Party. Treasurers Report and Budget for the next year was given, motion made to accept and voted on. As was the year end audit report, all checks and deposits verified.

The downtown planters were discussed, and members of the garden club will be removing the pine, Christmas bulbs, candy canes and wood trees, by the end of next week. It was also discussed that originally there were 13 planters, and now there are 24 to take care of. This is a big task when it comes to watering.

Also under new business, club members are looking into some type of PA system to use when having the meetings. The proposed official booklet of the garden club was gone over with the members, and will be presented to them in February. Some things planned for this next year is to go on some outings, as well as have a speaker come in, and making crafts to sell at the annual Mother's Day Plant sale.

The next meeting will be 6 p.m. Feb. 12, First Church of Christ, East Palestine. It will be an old fashioned Valentine party like when in school.

Starting at /week.
