Calvary UMC chicken dinner
Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave., North Lima, will hold a drive-thru chicken dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. or sold out Jan. 11. Dinner will include a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and a brownie for $9. Reserve dinners by calling 330-549-2588.
Mary Poppins auditions
Auditions for "Mary Poppins the Musical," directed by Justin Steele at The Salem Community Theatre, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Those auditioning must be 9 years old or older and come prepared to sing a short section of a song of their choice from the genre of the show. Songs from the show are allowed. There will be no accompaniment provided, but those auditioning are permitted to use a phone for a track or a cappella. They will also be asked to read from the script. Show dates are March 21 through 24.
GriefShare support group
GriefShare, a free weekly grief support group, will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays Jan. 9 through April 2 at Everyone's Welcome Church, 2 E. Main St., Salineville. Topics include the grief journey, sadness and loneliness, fear and anxiety, anger, regrets, grief and relationships, question for God, hope and resilience and much more. Columbiana Library board seat
The Columbiana Public Library Board of Trustees is announcing a vacant seat on the board. The position to be filled is for an unexpired term (July 2025). The trustees will review applications, hold interviews and make a recommendation to the Columbiana school board, which will make the appointment. Applicants must live in the Columbiana Village School District. Anyone interested in the volunteer position of library trustee should mail a resume and letter of interest stating the desire to serve on the board to Laura Nappi, President, Columbiana Public Library, 332 N. Middle St., Columbiana, OH 44408. Applications are being accepted through Feb. 29.
Puzzle Exchange at Salem Library
Salem Public Library is hosting its annual Puzzle Exchange this month. To participate in the exchange, bring gently used puzzles with all pieces to the adult circulation desk, upstairs at the library. Drop-off begins Jan. 11 at 9 a.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Jan. 25. Participants receive one ticket for each puzzle dropped off. Bring those tickets Jan. 27 to select puzzles. Participants will select a time slot for the exchange when they drop off their puzzles.

Denni Dattilio, a professional organizer and owner of Practical Organizing by Denni, will present Practical Organizing for an Aging Population, a class to offer practical tips and strategies for creating an organized and functional living space tailored to the unique needs of an aging population, at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Salem Public Library. Discover effective and manageable organizing techniques to enhance daily living and promote a sense of comfort and independence for seniors. The Salem Public Library will host Color Yourself Calm, a drop-in-style adult coloring program, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15 in the Quaker Room, featuring soft, meditative music, herbal teas and a plethora of coloring materials. This event is free of cost and open to the public. No registration is required.
Future of Your Farm workshop
The OSU Extension offices of Northeast Ohio are hosting a "Planning for the Future of Your Farm" workshop Jan. 19 at the Columbiana County Extension Office, 7989 Dickey Drive, Lisbon. This workshop is designed to help farm families learn strategies and tools to successfully create a succession and estate plan that helps transfer their farm's ownership, management and assets to the next generation. Workshop topics include Developing Goals for Estate and Succession; Planning for the Transition of Control; Planning for the Unexpected; Communication and Conflict Management during Farm Transfer; Legal Tools and Strategies; Developing Your Team; Getting Your Affairs in Order; and Selecting an Attorney. The base $85 registration fee allows two members from the family to attend and includes lunch, refreshments and one set of course materials. Additional family members can attend for $20 per person. That Quilt Group I Belong To
That Quilt Group I Belong To (TQGIBT) will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 16 in the Rotary Building at Fair Park on Oak Street in Canfield. This month members will begin a new, personal round robin quilt. Here is an opportunity to incorporate an orphan block or an interesting fabric or panel to use as a central theme. Members are reminded to bring their selections to show.
