LISBON -- The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center (CCCTC) board reorganized for the new year, electing Brian Moore of East Palestine as president of the board and TK Hiscox, of Lisbon, as vice president. The board also appointed Larry Duko as the Ohio School Boards Association liason.
Moore, Assistant Superintendent Jeremy Corbisello, and Treasurer Katherine Scanlon were appointed to the board's audit committee.
As part of Scanlon's report, the board approved $688,065.35 in operating bills for December, a tax budget forecasted through 2028, and a December fund balance of $10,073,494.27, $8,641,536.15 of which is unencumbered.
Meetings have been established by the board for 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month in the CCCTC central office board room, with alternate meeting dates scheduled for the fourth Monday of each month.
The board appointed Curt Kaiser as Hearing Officer Pro Tempore.
Peters, Kalail and Markakis Co. was retained as the school's legal firm.
"We probably spent less than $1,000 in attorney fees last year," Superintendent Chuck Adkins said. "That says a lot about the atmosphere of the building, the district."
The board approved Emma Hamilton as 2024 spring semester student teacher from Youngstown State University. She is to be placed with Kristen Hamilton, who is of no relation, Adkins said.
As part of Corbisello's report, he mentioned that 97 students had perfect attendence in the previous month and were entered in a drawing for a $25 Dunkin gift card. The school has 37 applicants so far for next school year, he said.
The CCCTC board will next meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 20 in the central office board room.
