Although Newell Bridge and Railroad Company officials had their precautionary inspection Thursday afternoon, owner Frank Six had no official results, although the inspection went well. At 4:30 p.m., traffic on the Ohio side of the Wayne Six Toll Bridge (formerly known as the Newell Bridge) appeared to be moving brisk, as it was business as usual. Six said that will be the case unless otherwise notified. He is having both Ohio and West Virginia review the results; however, he is confident that the findings will be positive as the bridge was just inspected in October. The traffic counts definitely have picked up for the toll bridge, since officials shut down the Jennings Randolph Bridge earlier this week after it failed an inspection. Built in 1977 and recently undergoing maintenance over the past two years, the Jennings Randolph Bridge was utilized by more than 10,000 vehicles daily, traveling on U.S. Route 30 between Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
