WELLSVILLE -- During the new business portion of Monday's Wellsville Board of Education meeting the board approved the use of Final Forms and Schedule Star and the purchase of the basic package for two years at a cost of $1,650.00.
The use of Final Forms means staff will no longer have to carry paper medical and emergency contact forms with them to events such as sports matches and field trips because all the information will be readily available on their cell phones through the app. The only people who will have access to the information will be the student's coach or teacher and the school nurse.
Also, during the new business portion, the board approved the updated NEOLA policies, liability insurance for Wellsville Takedown Club (wrestling), the acceptance of donations from a variety of sources for different school events and an increase of payment from $30 to $50 per event for all clock operators, ticket takers and announcers, retroactive for fall of 2023 and going forward.
The increase brings the pay to a competitive rate within the area.
The board approved the treasurer's report which included transfers and modifications of funds and Then and Now Certificates.
Also approved during the financial portion of the meeting was a motion for the Camp Fitch stipend for chaperoning paid to Lisa Smith, the Fiscal Year 2024 five-year forecast as presented, the transfer of $299,548.13 of the payment from Southfield Energy LLC from the General fund to the Permanent Improvement fund, a motion to rescind the previous motion made to approve Marie Martin's contract from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2026, and approve the new contract ending on June 30, 2024, a wage increase of 1.75% for Alaina Kilpatrick and Marie Martin, retroactive to their contract start dates, a motion for Lindsay Clifton to conduct a Daw choir fundraiser through an outside organization referred to as "Snap Raise," the GCL Education Services LLC contract, Day Treatment-Purchase Service Agreement between GCL Education Services LLC and Wellsville Local School District for the 2023-2024 school year, the contract for children with disabilities open enrollment with Southern Local for the 2023-2024 school year, and the RWJ Corporations/S.A. Comunale Fire Systems Inspection Contract with Wellsville Local School District.
For personnel, Thomas Redman, Cassandra Felekey, Tricia Sattler, Leighton Reese, Kayla Reese, Kayla Swogger and Robert Long were all approved as substitutes.
Nicole Camilletti was approved as the high school entry year teacher mentor.
Brandi Meyer was approved as a Garfield Crossing Guard and Lunch Prep/Server.
The following coaches were approved for the 2023-2024 school year: Jeff Weekley, head varsity softball; Sherry Weekley, varsity assistant softball; Alvin Thompson, varsity assistant softball; Jesse Jackson, junior high basketball; Lonnie Fields, varsity girls' assistant basketball; Thomas Redman, wrestling; Justin Gerren, wrestling; Nate Ketchum, wrestling; John Stoakes, varsity boys assistant basketball; Gary Althiser, wrestling volunteer; and Derrick Suggs, junior high basketball.
The board members voted to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters, but no action was taken.
The Wellsville Board of Education meets the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in the media center at Wellsville Jr. Sr. High School. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 18.
