Liverpool Township full-time road and police departments employees to see pay increase
LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP — Liverpool Township trustees unanimously approved a 3 percent wage increase for the full-time employees of the township’s road and police department during their meeting Tuesday.
The pay increase will go into effect with the first full pay in 2024.
The trustees also approved to change Police Chief Jared Kinemond from salaried to hourly pay.
The trustees continue to work on getting blighted properties cleaned up in the township. They have seen the results of their efforts at least one property; others they are still trying to get in contact with the owners. Multiple certified letters have been sent to property owners notifying them they need to clean up the properties but have received few return receipts. The trustees plan to visit one of the property owners in person to speak with them about cleaning up before further action is taken.
In his report Kinemond told the trustees that one of his officers was supposed to go for state firearm instructor training at the end of the month but that class has been canceled due to lack of enrollment. The chief is looking for another course to register the officer in but doesn’t anticipate him taking the course until after the first of the year.
Fire Chief Dave Ward told the trustees that he had contacted the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) regarding the grant they had previously been awarded due to a mailing error and was told the township should be receiving the check within the next couple of weeks.
Road Foreman Chris Bosworth said that the tractor which had been sent to Akron for diagnostics needs a new solenoid and coil, both parts are on order, and the pump rebuilt with two new seals. Once that work is completed the tractor will be ready for the township to resume use of. Estimated cost of repairs is not yet known.
Bosworth received the go-ahead from the trustees to start interviewing applicants to fill the vacancy in the road department.
The trustees approved $10,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for the road department to purchase two new tires for the backhoe, a 55-gallon drum of oil, a new track for the excavator and repairs to the 2006 truck.
