EAST LIVERPOOL -- The East Liverpool City Council Monday approved Mayor Greg Bricker's appointment to the Board of Public Utilities to fill the unexpired term of Bill Cowan, which expires Aug. 31, 2025.
Council also approved Bricker's appointment of Floyd Fox to the Board of Zoning Appeals to fulfill the unexpired term of Carl Fife through Jan. 31, 2026.
Council received a letter from the R.I.D.E. Organization informing them of the $50,000 check the organization had sent to the city.
Council Clerk Pat Scafide received a request regarding Chef Ray's Diamond Grill and the paperwork for the restaurant which had an error. Council agreed to allow the paperwork to be resubmitted without the need for a public hearing.
Council member Brian Kerr said he was going to reintroduce the RITA (Regional Income Tax Agency) legislation again, but decided not to. He said he wanted to hold off until all members are present.
Council member Jeff Kreefer spoke on the Recompete grant written by Fire Chief Bill Jones, which is a tri-state grant to bring new jobs into the area with a focus on forestry. Jones said the funds should be awarded in January and dispersed in October.
With the excused absence of members Fred Rayl and Robert Nizer, council did not have enough members present to pass any of the ordinances on the agenda.
The ordinances to amend the budget ordinance by adjusting appropriations, create a new fund line item and make appropriations for the Homeland Security Grant, and authorize the city to enter into an agreement with Farmers National Bank as the city's depository and the auditor to pay certain vendors were all put on first read.
Jones asked everybody to support the fire levy as they go to the polls on today.
The Planning and Expansion Committee will hold a meeting Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers.
A special meeting of the East Liverpool City Council will be held Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. to pass the ordinances placed on first reading during Monday's meeting.
The East Liverpool City Council meets the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in council chambers, third floor, East Liverpool City Hall. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 4.
