Free Community Dinner
Trinity Parish Presbyterian Church will host the Free Community Dinner from 3-5 p.m. Saturday at the Newell Volunteer Fireman Community Building. The meal is take out and eat in; come to the back of the building and up the ramp. This month we feature roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetables and dessert. Lisbon Banquet Nov. 27
First Methodist Church, Lisbon, will sponsor the Lisbon Banquet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church. The menu will include baked spaghetti, coleslaw, rolls, desert and drinks. The meal is dine in only, with carry out available after 6 p.m.
Salem Parks & Recreation
The Salem Parks and Recreation Board will be meeting at 5 p.m. Nov. 15 in the park office this month due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Planning Commission meeting
Columbiana County Commissioner Tim Weigle announced Wednesday the county Planning Commission will hold a special meeting at 4 p.m. Nov. 14 in the commissioners' conference room on the main floor of the downtown courthouse.
Honor Walk set for Saturday
The Mahoning County Career and Technical Center and Valley STEM Academy will be hosting a community-wide fundraiser to benefit the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2 Saturday, featuring a 2.7-mile Honor Walk commencing at noon, serving as a symbolic gesture to honor the sacrifices made by the brave veterans. In addition, a cornhole tournament will kick off at 11 a.m. Open to the public, this event offers activities and attractions for attendees of all ages. In addition, there will be various food trucks and a bake sale. Participants can register for the Honor Walk or the cornhole tournament at Mahoningctc.com.
Comprehensive blood screening
Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) and the Columbiana Family Care Center will host a comprehensive blood screening Nov. 18 at the Columbiana Family Care Center, located at 116 Carriage Drive in Columbiana. Comprehensive blood screenings can help to identify many health problems in their early stages, when they're most treatable, and may detect conditions such as high cholesterol, anemia, infections, diabetes and other disorders. Some of the tests included are cholesterol, lipids and triglycerides, red and white blood cells, platelets, electrolytes, enzymes, blood sugar, BUN and creatinine, bilirubin and thyroid function. Cost of the comprehensive screening is $45. Optional tests available for an additional charge include a prostate specific antigen test for $12 and HgA1c diabetes screen for $28. A lipid panel, which measures cholesterol levels and is included in the comprehensive screening, is available as a stand- alone test for $12. Participants must provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope at the time of the screening to receive a copy of their results. Screenings begin at 7 a.m. and an appointment is required. EP Christmas Parade
The East Palestine Annual Christmas Parade sponsored by the East Palestine Moose Lodge #467 will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 2. The theme for this year's Christmas parade is Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas. For information contact Doug at 330-426-3510.
