NEW WATERFORD -- The New Waterford announced its details for its annual Christmas Parade during Tuesday's regular village council meeting.
The parade will take place Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. Line-up begins at 3 p.m. the Abundant Life Church, located at 46469 state Route 46, where the procession will begin. The parade will end at the New Waterford Methodist Church, located at 46925 S. State St. Following the parade, Santa Claus will meet children at the Methodist church. Parade participants are welcome.
In project-related matters, Village Administrator Jason Gorby reported that the village received an estimate for the cost to repair the base of the water tower. The repair marks the final suggestion by the Environmental Protection Agency. Gorby also reported that the village has received needed parts to repair the clarifier at the sewer plant. Gorby said once the repairs are completed, it would mean the clarifier would "be totally rebuilt and good to go for the next 15 to 20 years."
Scratch coat on Crestview has been finished and the scratch coat on East Main Street was expected to be completed on Wednesday.
"We had a little extra money left over in the streets this year and what we decided to do was get the scratch coast done on Crestview and East Main Street and up the hill," Mayor Shane Patrone. "With any luck, the plan next year is to come up with the money because we would like a surface coat, top coat, on Front Street, Main Street and eventually all of Crestview. That would mean we would have seven roads paved which are seven more than we had 10 years ago, so we are making progress on that."
In other news, Patrone reported that the Mayor's Court collected $495 last month with $438 going into the village's general fund.
Gorby also made an announcement on behalf of New Waterford Friends regarding Thanksgiving dinners. Gorby said the organization is currently collecting both fund and monetary donations to put together dinner packages for needy families within the village and Crestview community. The first dinners will be put together Saturday.
In other business, council approved the first reading of an ordinance granting consent to allow the Ohio Depart of Transportation to maintain and repair state roads within the village and perform winter maintenance on state roads within the village.
A motion to approve fund transfers and appropriation changes and approve the financial reports was also approved and passed.
