BWD looks to USDA for possible funding
WELLSVILLE — During the Nov. 16 meeting of the Buckeye Water District Board of Trustees there were no resolutions to be passed by the board and no one present needed to address the board during the public speaking portion.
The board adjourned into an executive session to discuss personnel matters but reconvened the regular board meeting with no action taken.
The board members approved the treasurer’s, operations and district manager’s reports.
In his report District Manager Al DeAngelis noted that the district met with the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development to discuss funding scenarios for the state Route 39/Russell Heights line. The discussion also included dredging of the Wellsville Marina, Hibbetts Mill Phase 2 and the proposed office building.
The district is looking to obtain funding from the USDA.
DeAngelis also reported that the district has been in contact with Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) on its dredging permit since the district will be sampling dredging material to get an analysis from a certified lab for the OEPA to review the results.
There were two main water breaks in the West Point Area on 12-inch lines which have been repaired.
The Columbiana County Engineer’s Office submitted preliminary plans for the next section of County Road 430 to the district. There is a potential need for the district’s water line to be relocated.
The Buckeye Water District meets the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m.,in Council Chambers at Wellsville Village Hall, 1200 Main St. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec.21
