Stark Memorial Funeral Home to host National Create the Perfect Funeral Day program

2 min read

SALEM - Stark Memorial Funeral Home will observe National Create the Perfect Funeral Day with a program at 5 p.m. Oct. 30 at the funeral home, 1014 E. State St., in a "heartfelt effort to provide solace and guidance to those navigating the emotional whirlwind of planning a farewell for a departed loved one."

"The burden of planning a funeral can weigh heavily on our loved ones during an already challenging time. National Create the Perfect Funeral Day is an opportunity for all of us to ease that burden and ensure our final wishes are known," said Dan Madden, owner of Stark Memorial -- a staunch advocate of pre-planning. "I didn't realize the day existed and wanted to celebrate it by encouraging people to pre-plan to take the burden off their loved ones."

The inspiration behind National Create the Perfect Funeral Day is a story of empathy and understanding. Stephanie West Allen, who experienced the overwhelming loss of her husband in 1988 and later supported her second husband through a similarly challenging period, recognized the tremendous importance of pre-planning funeral arrangements. In both instances, she saw the profound impact that a loved one's clear wishes can have on the grieving process.

Create a Great Funeral Day aims to foster an environment where individuals and families can openly discuss and document their final wishes, ensuring that their legacy is honored in the way they desire. By planning ahead, we alleviate the added stress on bereaved loved ones and leave a lasting legacy of cherished memories.

The Workshop for National Create the Perfect Funeral Day at Stark Memorial Funeral Home will include:

-- Guidance on Pre-Planning: The experienced staff will provide insights into the benefits of pre-planning and assist attendees in getting started.

-- Supportive Environment: Stark offers a warm and welcoming space where attendees can discuss their wishes, ask questions and receive guidance.

-- Refreshments: A time for fellowship with refreshments available to attendees.
