West Branch school board OKs lease update

By MORGAN AHART 1 min read

BELOIT -- The West Branch Board of Education has approved an update to a lease agreement.

The board met in a brief special meeting Tuesday which saw them approve a resolution authorizing the execution of a master equipment lease-purchase agreement with the Flagstar Public Funding Corporation for energy conservation measures and related improvements to school facilities. The resolution also repealed a similar resolution approved at the board's August meeting.

Treasurer Adam Fisher explained that the lease is for the same energy conservation improvements as the prior resolution, but that this alternate resolution was necessary because the prior resolution authorized a land lease, and it had since been learned the agreement would be an equipment lease.

The board also approved Rachel Blasiman, Jeff Dyke, Danielle Clarkson, Corey Clay, Brooke Day and Andrea Zippay as band volunteers; and Elisha Kutz as a cheerleading volunteer for the 2023-2024 school year.

The meeting concluded with an executive session to consider legal matters required to be kept confidential by federal law or regulations or state statutes, with no action following.
