New hearing dates for Lisbon man

LISBON — New tentative hearing dates have been set in the case against a Lisbon man charged for the alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old child in 2021.

Donald J. Williams, 59, Pritchard Avenue, has remained in jail since April this year after being served with the indictment issued in May 2022 for rape, a first-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.

The alleged incidents occurred on June 24, 2021 and the indictment specifically noted that the child was 10 years old at the time of the rape.

During a hearing Monday in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, Judge Scott Washam set a status hearing for 11:45 a.m. Oct. 30, then a final status hearing at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 16 and a jury trial date of Nov 27 after consulting with county Assistant Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones and defense attorney Joe King.

King said he had been in contact with the DNA lab he hired on behalf of his client to do DNA analysis and has a telephone meeting set with the DNA experts on Oct. 18.

Washam noted that if a report is generated, the dates may have to be revisited so the prosecution has enough time to review the report.

Starting at $2.99/week.
