COLUMBIANA -- The city is gearing up for its annual Street Fair along Main Street.
The 136th annual fair sponsored by the Benjamin Firestone American Legion Post 290 will begin Thursday.
Fair times are 5-10 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon-11 p.m. Saturday.
Columbiana Street Fair Manager Jacob Sevek said that rides will once again be provided by Kissel Amusements.
"We are looking to continue providing a great family fun experience for everyone and we hope everyone enjoys themselves," Sevek said.
The opening of the fair begins each year with a parade organized by the Columbiana Fire Department.
The parade starts at 6:15 p.m. Thursday and is sponsored this year by the Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau.
Other popular aspects of the Street Fair that will return this year are the Special Needs event on Friday, that is sponsored by Shaker Woods; the American Legion Bingo, and $5,000 drawing Saturday night.
Sevek said the Legion will also be serving their famous Street Fair burgers.
A $500 drawing will also be held Thursday and $1,000 drawing on Friday.
There will also be periodic merchandise prize cash drawings throughout the weekend, Sevek said.
He also said that the Legion and Auxiliary will be set up next to the Big Tent for those interested to find out more about the American Legion, and these there will also be representatives from the Mahoning County Veterans Commission to answer questions about VA benefits for veterans.
In addition, Sevek said this year Hackney's Mobile Luxury Lavs will provide a mobile lavatory that has lights, running water, heat and air to give guests a better experience.
"I look forward to the Street Fair every year, and begin working on the next year's fair, during Street Fair Weekend. I believe we put on one of the best fairs in state, and we work tirelessly to make it better year after year. We hope that everyone has a great time and look forward to seeing everyone out at the State Fair of Street Fairs!" Sevek said.
He said the Legion will continue expanding on sponsorship opportunities next year.
