LEETONIA -- Leetonia residents can look forward to a weekend of fun for all ages as the third annual Fall Festival comes to town.
The annual event will be held Sept. 23-24 and will feature vendors, a bounce house, a petting zoo, Chinese auction, drinks by Birdfish Brewery and more.
The fun kicks off that Saturday with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m., an opening festival including a parade at 11 a.m., a car and bike show from 1 to 5 p.m., and a chili cook-off from 2 to 2:30 p.m.
Registration for the car and bike show will be held at 12:30 p.m. in front of the Leetonia OSI on Main Street, with the first 25 participants receiving dash plaques. All funds raised by the show will benefit Leetonia families in need this Christmas. Those with any questions about the show should contact Ashley at 330-356-1999 or Missy Cooper at 330-921-9074.
Registration for the chili cook-off must be completed no later than Sept. 8, and sign in must be completed by 1 p.m. No walk in competitors will be accepted. The categories for this year's competition will include mild, medium and hot. Participants must prepare one full crock pot from scratch off site, which must be brought to the big tent for tasting no later than 1 p.m. Saturday. Awards will be given out for first through third in each category and "Overall Master Chef' of the day. Participants are asked to prepare a card with a full list of ingredients for their chili for the safety of any taste tester who may have food-based allergies.
The fun will simmer down Sunday with another pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m, a soup challenge from 1 to 2:30 p.m. (registration must be completed by noon Sunday), and the Chinese Auction drawing at 6 p.m.
Donations for Chinese auction items as well as monetary donations are currently being accepted. For donations, as well as any additional information or questions, contact Christine at 330-277-8401 or Courtney at 330-824-1669.
