The second annual "Best of the Best Readers' Choice" returns for 2023. The digital-based contest is sponsored by the Morning Journal, The Review and the Salem News. Nominations open today and will continue through August 20 at morningjournalnews.com/best
So many people in our community are comfortable using the internet and they will be able to select their favorite businesses and organizations from their phones, tablets or computers with exclusive online nominations and voting.
The contest is bigger than ever this year, providing more visibility to area businesses and organizations by being online. Anyone with internet access can participate in the nomination and voting process.
Want to show some love to your favorite restaurant, child care center or other local business? Readers can nominate their favorite local businesses in 136 categories, now until August 20. Readers will be able to vote online once per day per category.
Last year's nominated businesses have been pre-seeded for the first round of voting.
Once the nomination phase is over, the nominated businesses in each category will move on to the voting phase. Readers can then vote daily for their favorite businesses out of the top five in each category from October 21-28.
"Best of the Best" winners and the top two finalists in each category will be announced in a special combined publication in the Morning Journal, The Review and Salem News in December. Last year, 60,155 votes were cast over eight days to determine "Best of the Best."
A list of zip codes for the eligible geographic area surrounding and including Columbiana County and frequently asked questions, along with the rules and guidelines used for the contest are available on the website.
"You'll be seeing a lot of 'BOB' in our newspapers and websites in the coming weeks," said Tammie McIntosh, publisher of the Columbiana County Newspapers. "This will be a lot of fun for our readers and local businesses."
