LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP -- The Liverpool Township trustees approved the purchase of new body cameras for the Liverpool Township Police Department.
The police department has $28,000 to put toward the $34,277 cost of the cameras and requested ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) money to cover the difference. The trustees were unanimous in their approval of the purchase and allowing the use of ARPA funds.
The trustees also approved the purchase at a cost to be determined of seat covers and floor mats for the two new cruisers which are scheduled to go in for lettering next week, and light installation in July. The floor mats and seat covers are to help protect the interior of the new cars.
Trustees approved the payment of bills totaling $101,176.23.
With an all-in favor vote the trustees approved resolutions to exclude the City of Salem for an alternative method of apportionment of Local Government Funds to be distributed in 2024 and a request to accept the amounts and rates as determined by the Budget Commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor. These are two resolutions passed yearly by local municipalities.
Fiscal Officer Shirley Flati noted that the township had received an email from the Bureau of Worker's Compensation regarding a safety grant opportunity and a memorandum of understanding for the police, fire and road departments to sign.
The road department is finishing up paving and nearly finished with the current round of grass cutting.
The Litter Program is hoping to be underway soon.
There was discussion on sending letters to several residents with grass several feet high or referring them to the health department .
The Liverpool Township trustees meet every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the township administration building. The next meeting is scheduled for June 27.
