Hands on History program

The Salem Historical Society will conduct at Hands on History program from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 14, including free lunch. The project is for youth ages 9 to 12 and is held in summer to further the study of American history by allowing the youth to identify and hold artifacts found at the museum in a "History Detectives" games. The youth search for and learn about objects from the museum, including when the object was made and how it was used. They also learn about the customs and manners for youth of period and have the opportunity to learn to write with a quill pen. Cost is $5 per child, adults are welcome. Registration also gives permission to attend and must be filled out, even if paid at the door. Contact Salem Historical Society at 330-337-8514.

Veterans Service Commission

The Columbiana County Veterans Service Commission will hold a special meeting at noon today in the commission board room for personnel position reorganization.

Art in the Park program

Salem Preservation will present "Hey Kids! Paint Your Home's Architecture," an Art in the Park program, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Waterworth Memorial Park. The free program will have the youth paint a house that looks like their own.

EP music concerts

East Palestine Memorial Public Library, 309 N. Market St., will host three outdoor music concerts this summer at the pergola on the library's south lawn. All ages are welcome to attend. The schedule includes: Ben Flint, 6 p.m., today; Tyler Guerrieri and Nick Kerpsack, 6 p.m. July 12; and Oldies on Tour, 6 p.m. July 26. Laurel Hollow Park concert

Laurel Hollow Park in Newell will host a concert by Chelsea Householder from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Concerts are offered at no charge. This concert is sponsored by Friends of the Park, Marlene McAvoy, Susie Wilson, Patty King and the Coalition.

NW alumni reunion

New Waterford High School Alumni will hold a reunion at noon July 27 at Webber's Pavilion on Carter Road, New Waterford. Bring a covered dish and tableware. For information call Betty at 330-692-3381 or Shirley at 330-692-7786.

Covenant Presbyterian VBS

The "Pets Unleashed" Vacation Bible School at Covenant Presbyterian Church in East Liverpool scheduled for June 20 and 21 has been postponed until sometime in July.

Banquet in Salem

Friends of the Banquet will sponsor the 4th Thursday Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Thursday in the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include sausage sandwich with onions and pepper, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, applesauce, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and cookies. Dine in will park in the designated area and proceed to front door of the Memorial Building. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. United Class of 1969

United High School Class of 1969 will meet June 29 at noon at Marks Landing at Guilford Lake. The July lunch date is July 20. Changes are due to some classmates visiting the area at different times than regular lunches.

Park District night hikes

The Columbiana County Park District will begin its series of night hikes Thursday at the Teagarden Trailhead of the Greenway Trail. Participants are asked to meet at 8:30 p.m. at the parking lot near the covered bridge. Hikers are also requested to bring a flashlight or lantern. The hike will be 4 miles in length, and the route is level. In case of rain, a new date will be set.

Lepper Library Story Stroll

Lepper Library will present its second Story Stroll, The Little Red Hen Story Stroll, along the Green Way Bike Trail July 1 through 7. Story Stroll is made possible with the support of the Columbiana County Park District and the Village of Lisbon and a grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), awarded by the State Library of Ohio.
