LISBON -- A semi truck with an oversized load tied up traffic in and around Lisbon for several hours Friday afternoon after tearing down power lines and breaking a utility pole on West Lincoln Way between Logtown Road and Morton Street.
Lisbon Police Chief Mike Abraham said the incident remained under investigation when asked if the driver would face charges.
The Ohio Department of Transportation put up signs on U.S. Route 30 in Hanoverton and local firefighters were posted at U.S. Route 30 and state Route 172 to direct truck traffic away from the area. Other eastbound vehicles were detoured onto Logtown Road and around other streets to get into the village.
Traffic was also being directed near the square in Lisbon to prevent westbound truck traffic from going that way.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. Friday. Abraham said the Lisbon Fire Department was on the scene directing traffic away from the hazard. Ohio Edison was also on the scene to make repairs and install a new utility pole. He had no estimate for how long it would take to open the road completely.
No injuries were reported.
