Robert Bycroft students lauded at commencement

LISBON -- Inside the front door of the Robert Bycroft Schools hangs a quote from Dr. Seuss that reads "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
On Thursday, those who matter most came together to celebrate the graduation of five of the school's students. Joseph Buchheit, Caleb Drye, Wynonna Husk, Levi Ketchum and Collin Thomas all were awarded diplomas by William Devon, superintendent of the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
Drye and Levi led the audience and their fellow graduates in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Andrew Garber, principal at Robert Bycroft School, delivered the address during the commencement ceremony and celebrated the unique abilities of each graduate.
"I had a speech prepared for today, but one of the privileges of having such a small graduating class is that I have the opportunity to address each of you personally," Garber told the graduates. "This may be one of the last chances I have to address you all and I want to take advantage of that opportunity."
Garber made note of Buchheit's kindness and humility, Drye's immense imagination and gift for storytelling, Husk's consistent commitment to teamwork and contagious smile, Ketchum's strong work ethic and willingness to lend a helping hand and Thomas' fun-loving personality and superb sense of humor.
"I just want to graduate our class of 2023 and let our graduates and their families know that the entire Robert Bycroft community stands behind them and celebrates their achievements," Garber added. "We are proud of each and every one of you."
