EAST PALESTINE -- For over 100 years, the residents of East Palestine have celebrated the village and its people with a street fair. That tradition continues today as the East Palestine Street Fair kicks off and runs through Saturday in the heart of the village on North Market Street. The street fair is presented by The East Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce working in partnership with Norfolk Southern. Rides, attraction, food and live entertainment are on tap for the annual celebration.
This year all rides and attractions, excluding food and games, will be free of charge. Aside from the rides on the midway, inflatable connect 4 basketball, clown shoot and ax throwing will be offered at no cost, as well as a test of strength attraction, a rock climbing wall and an euro bungee trampoline.
Live entertainment will be provided each night, beginning at 7 p.m. at the stage located at the far south end of the fair. East Palestine's own Stayin' Alive Cardio Drummers will open the live entertainment on Wednesday. The Project Band will take the stage on Thursday. The Project Band Acoustic will play Friday. The Winona Road Band closes the entertainment on Saturday.
Also on Saturday, the chamber of commerce will pull the winner for the $5,000 raffle. There will be nightly drawings as well.
Fairgoers can also visit the booths for the following organizations which will provide handouts, raffles, games and information: Columbiana County Visitors Bureau, East Palestine Alumni Association, East Palestine Band Parents, East Palestine Firefighters Association, East Palestine First Church of Christ, East Palestine Moose, Friends of the East Palestine Memorial Public Library, Girl Scouts of North East Ohio Service Unit 814, Job Fair, Ozer Ministries, The Town & Country Garden Club of East Palestine and the Women of the Moose.
