Salem Federation of Women’s Club hosting Coronation Tea

The Salem Federation of Women’s Clubs is celebrating the Coronation of King Charles the III by hosting a Coronation Tea at 11 a.m. May 20 at the Smucker House, 271 S. Broadway Ave. The high tea is to honor the historic crowning of the British Monarch King Charles III and Queen Consort. The menu includes Coronation Salad, sandwiches, scones and savories. A program will be presented by “Tea Chef” Alfred Farrand, who was born in Weast, part of Salford, county of Lancaster, now part of Greater Manchester. He has owned and operated tea houses in Canada and the Shenandoah Valley. He will delight guests with the history of teas and English tea etiquette. Hats and pearls not required but will add to the celebration. Drawings will be held for baskets and two tickets to the Star Theater in Sugar Creek. Basket tickets are six for $5 or $1 each.
