Lisbon chamber eyes beer truck for Third Fridays

By MARY ANN GREIER 2 min read

LISBON -- Third Fridays in downtown Lisbon may include a beer truck this year if the Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce can secure the necessary permits.

Chamber President Carly Brock checked with Lisbon Village Council Tuesday night on the request, with council members agreeing to the idea as long as all permits needed are secured.

One of those permits will be a temporary Ohio Class F liquor license which allows a non-profit organization to sell beer by the glass during an event. The area where the beer will be served has to be limited to a restricted section, which isn't the same as a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area known as DORA.

Anyone who partakes will have to stay in the restricted area.

The chamber will also need permission from Police Chief Mike Abraham and fill out the proper paperwork if any roads need closed. When contacted, Abraham said he has no problem with it as long as the chamber secures the permit and fills out any forms required by the village.

The location for the beer truck hasn't been finalized.

Mayor Peter Wilson said the whole idea is to bring more people to the downtown. Third Fridays are scheduled in the evenings on the third Friday of the month, usually beginning in May, and feature bands, food and a chance for fellowship.

In other business, council gave the go-ahead for the Lisbon Little Blue Devils to continue using the field at Cedar Park. An apparent miscommunication had raised questions over whether the football teams could or would continue calling the park home as they had the last several years, but council members stressed that they wanted the Little Blue Devils to remain at the park.

Council also heard about a program for strolling story library personnel for the Lepper Library on the square and gave their approval, along with approving May 27 as opening day for the Sadie Van Fossen pool and May 29 as a free day. During the week of the Columbiana County Fair, pool hours will be shorted to noon to 4 p.m.

Pool passes will be available at village hall beginning April 17.
