EP Eagles drive thru dinner

EP Eagles will host the monthly drive thru dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. or sold out tonight. Dinner includes sirloin tips and noodles with coleslaw, roll and dessert for $11 or $10 if over 65 years. Call to guarantee meal to 330-853-8483.

RTIP meeting canceled

The RTIP meeting scheduled for this Friday has been canceled. The next meeting will be held May 19.

Quaker City #316 nominations

Quaker City #316 (Salem Eagles) will be having nominations for officers at the April 25 meeting. The following positions are available: President, vice president, chaplin, secretary two-year term, treasurer, two-year term, conductor, inside guard, trustees one- to three-year and one- to two-year term. Anyone being nominated who cannot attend the meeting is required to have a letter of accepting the nomination for the position to the secretary by April 24. Election will take place on May 9.

Concealed Carry Class

On Saturday, April 29 the public is welcome to an Ohio Basic Concealed Carry Class at The Salem Hunting Club, 564 N. Indiana Ave. The class exceeds the state's minimum requirements and is taught by accredited instructors. Pre-registration is required to attend. Lepper Library book sale

Lepper Library will hold its annual Spring Book Sale May 5 and 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a wide selection of adult, teen and children's books, audios and movies. The prices are hardbacks 50 cents, paperbacks 25 cents, audios and DVDs $1, all children's books 25 cents and magazines are free with any purchase. The sale will take place at the library, 303 E. Lincoln Way, Lisbon. For the sale parking is in the rear of the building with entrance at the garage off Vine Street. For information contact the library at 330-424-3117.

National Library Week

Join the library and celebrate National Library Week with a special Spirit Week at the Lepper Library in Lisbon April 23 through 29. For each day, patrons are invited to show their Library Spirit by coming to the library and having their picture taken which will be posted it on the library's social media pages. People can also send in a picture from home showing their spirit which will be posted. Themes include: Monday – Crazy Sock Day; Tuesday – Hat Day; Wednesday – Tie Dye/Bright Colors; Thursday – Dress like your favorite book character; Friday – Crazy Hair Day.

Lisbon chamber Cookie Crawl

The Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Cookie Crawl from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at County Seat Plaza (7735 state Route 45, Lisbon, where Italo's is). Participants will receive at least eight different cookies by visiting all the stops on the crawl, said Carly Brock, who heads the chamber. "We are very excited about the new location for the event and have seven local bakeries and bakers participating this year to win the golden spatula," she said. "It will be a fun event for all ages." The chamber decided to move the event from the village's downtown to County Seat Plaza to highlight businesses up on the hill and give them more exposure, she said. Wristbands to participate in the event will be sold the day of crawl. They are $7 for adults, $5 for kids, and free to children three years old and under.

Park district to hold hikes

The Columbiana County Park District will hold two hikes this weekend in celebration of Earth Day. The first will be the annual Springtime Hike at Hellbender Bluff Park at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Retired geology professor Cheryl Mattevi, local mycologist Walt Sturgeon and local naturalist Mike West will lead the hike that will go to the West Fork of the Little Beaver Creek, said Park Board Chairwoman Eileen Dray-Bardon. The hike is moderate in difficulty; participants are asked to meet at the park's Lones Road parking lot. The second hike is at 9 a.m. on Sunday at Scenic Vista Park off Wayne Bridge Road, Lisbon. The focus will be on spring migrants and spring flowers. The hike is moderate in difficulty; participants are asked to meet at the pavilion.
