One man is dead and two homes destroyed following a fire in East Liverpool early Monday morning. According to East Liverpool Fire Chief Bill Jones, the fire department responded to the fire at 920 Riley Ave. A family member identified the resident of the home as 83-year-old James Earl Stanley. Two cats also perished. A second home was destroyed while a third structure suffered siding damage. Liverpool Township Fire Department assisted. The cause is undetermined and the State Fire Marshal was called to the scene. Also at the site were Columbia Gas and Veteran Energy Excavating. The investigation is ongoing.
