Hundreds of children and their parents and other family members lined up Saturday to be part of the 2022 Bright Christmas North, hosted in Salem at The Brightside Project, 483 E. Pershing St. Volunteers assisted children in picking out age appropriate toys. Children received full bags with goodies and other food items. Santa Claus made an appearance. A donut trailer offered mini-donuts and hot chocolate or juice. The five-hour event was free and under the direction of The Brightside Project founder and executive director Scott Lewis. Toys and other items came via community donations. A similar event, Bright Christmas South, was held Dec. 10 in Wellsville. A long line awaits entrance into Bright Christmas North.
