United High School Class of 1972 celebrates 50th reunion

HANOVERTON -- United High School Class of 1972 celebrated its 50-year class reunion with a two-day event in September.
On Friday, Sept. 16, the class held a meet and greet at the home football game - United vs Leetonia. The Mike Syx family was presented a plaque in honor of Mike's many outstanding football accomplishments. After the game, classmates headed to the Tipsy Farmer Winery for a fun social time.
On Saturday, Sept. 17, classmates enjoyed golfing at Pleasant View Golf Course while later in the evening they toured the school and had dinner at the United High School cafeteria.
The alumni were honored with the attendance of one of their first-grade teachers, Mrs. Clorinda Mancuso Rutzky, as well as Anita Rossi Ward, guidance counselor; Chuck Jones, science teacher; and coaches and teachers Sam Fornsaglio and Reno Saccoccia. Fornsaglio presented to his senior players the football used in 1972 at United's first victory in many years. This win helped to save the football program at United.
