BELOIT-- West Branch graduation have been moved one week later than originally intended for the 2022-2023 school year.
The school board Thursday night amended the school calendar, moving the commencement ceremony to June 4. It was originally slated for May 28, but had to be moved because there were too many student days remaining in the calendar after Memorial Day to excuse the seniors from attendance, according to schools Superintendent Micki Egli.
Also at the meeting, the board approved lunch and breakfast prices as follows: lunch for grades kindergarten through four at $2.35, lunch for grades five through 12 at $2.60, breakfast for all grades at $1.10, milk at 50 cents and lunch for adults at $3.50
Egli said lunch prices are not changing, but the National School Lunch Program waiver will no longer be in effect. Everyone was receiving free meals the past two years under the waiver. Now families will once again need to apply in order to receive free or reduced meals.
In other business, the board accepted the resignation of Barbara Eisenhart as a literacy coach and hired Brandon Ferry as a technology assistant and Jeff Votaw as a bus driver.
The board also granted athletic supplemental contracts for the 2022-2023 school year, pending sufficient enrollment, to Tracy Muckleroy as girls golf volunteer; Chris Yannon as cross country varsity assistant; Alyssa Streb, Tiffany Woods and Penny DeShields for volleyball summer conditioning; and Penny DeShields for volleyball head coach.
The board also granted supplemental contracts for the 2022-2023 school year to Diane Uyselt for senior class advisor, Cori Sands for junior class advisor, Erica Polinori for sophomore class advisor, Chris Brown and Lauren Stitle for co-head and -assistant high school instrumental music, Bryan Stehura as middle school instrumental music, Krista Clay for high school musical, Lauren Stitle for pep band, Lona Wells for majorette advisor, Debi Hartzell for flag line advisor, Krista Clay for Young & Alive/vocal, Mary Jo Kidd for high school Academic Challenge, Erica Polinori for Rising Educators (Future Teachers), Kristen Tice for high school Environmental Club, Dennis McCracken for middle school Environmental Club, Kristen Tice for National Honor Society, Frank Edie for Pep Club, Kraig Barth for high school student council, Michael D'Amico for middle school student council, Marissa Frame for SADD and Teresa Santee for Aultman Ambassadors volunteer.
Additionally, the board accepted donation of $3,182.62 from MAC Trailer and $2,632.24 anonymously for the operation of Knox Elementary, $1,000 from Butech Inc. for Project Lead the Way, $50 in memory of Paul Rozich from Christine Mitchell for the band and services valued at $3,673 from Smith Landscaping for work done to the football, soccer and practice soccer fields.
