Murder victim identified

By Deanne Johnson 1 min read

LISBON -- Preliminary information released by Columbiana County Sheriff Brian McLaughlin on Tuesday confirmed the body found dead in his home on state Route 45 outside of Lisbon was that of Nicholas Ieropoli.

McLaughlin said the County Coroner's office contacted him to report the positive identification and indicated initial findings show Ieropoli died of blunt force trauma.

Deputies went to the Ieropoli home on Feb. 20 after someone found the body of Jesse Ieropoli, 31, in the area off of Jimtown Road in Unity Township near a van belonging to his father, Nicholas Ieropoli.

The case is being considered a murder suicide.

Although Nicholas Ieropoli had been dead for sometime when deputies arrived, McLaughlin said details from the report are not yet available, which may be able to show a timeline for what happened.

Once considered a suspect in the shooting death of his mother, Sherry Ieropoli in August 2008, Jesse Ieropoli reportedly died from suicidal gunshot.
