Columbiana names new park superintendent

COLUMBIANA — Council introduced Tim Reash as the new park superintendent Tuesday during council.

Reash provided council members with paperwork explaining his goals and visions for Firestone Park.

Reash’s vision for the park includes adapting the park to the community’s changing expectations.

“I know those expectations are changing and we need to meet those as a department,” Reash explained.

He will focus on hard work, communication, collaboration and accountability. Reash intends to continue upholding the strong foundation of the park. He recognized the hard work and dedication by the Restoration and Beautification committee, Pat Tingle and other private contributors.

“It’s going to last hundreds of years,” Reash commented.

Reash wants to generate excitement for the park by utilizing social media and continue utilizing Firestone Park for events by encouraging relationships with area businesses.

In other matters, City Manager Lance Willard gave updates regarding the Salem Storm Water project during council Tuesday.

According to Willard the gas company has lowered lines and is completing the process of placing lateral lines.

The construction area has been given a temporary layer of pavement and utility placement will be complete soon.
