Shaker Haunted Woods set for weekend

COLUMBIANA– The Chamber of Commerce is introducing Shaker Haunted Woods. Tickets will be sold from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

“We wanted to try something new this year and in our area there is not a whole lot of haunted stuff other than Canfield and things like that. We also wanted it to be affordable and raise money for a good cause,” said Columbiana Chamber Executive Director Erich Offenburg.

Profits from Shaker Haunted Woods benifit the Columbiana Cultural Collective. The cultural collective has a goal to save the Main Street Theater located at 5 N. Main St.

Volunteer Kaleb McFarland has experience creating haunted themes with family and looks forward to using those experiences at Shaker Haunted Woods.

“The woods when it’s dark by themselves is scary enough. So, we are just going to elevate that horror,” said McFarland.

The trails throughout Shaker Woods will introduce 13 scenes while multiple floaters will scare those brave enough walk along the paths.

Organizers are anticipating opening night for Shaker Haunted Woods. One announcement on social media has captured nearly 88,000 views and 1,000 shares, according to Offenburg.

“We are thrilled to be doing it. It’s going to be a scary time,” Offenburg commented.

The cost to enter is $10 for everyone. Organizers are asking adults to use discretion when considering bringing children. Peace Valley Orchards and C&M Concessions will offer food for attendees.

Shaker Haunted Woods is sponsored by NDC Heating and Cooling, LLC, Columbiana Barber Shop, Sundog Cellars Ciderhouse and Winery, Factory 46 Tavern, Shaker Woods and Practical Organizing by Denni.

Shaker Woods is located at 44337 County Line Road. Organizers encourage residents who wish to volunteer to register online at forms.gle/LgCKyh6ZXw4yxPF36.
