EL trash schedule
Trash will be collected from city residents in East Liverpool Monday, as the Refuse and Recycling Department employees are scheduled to work on Labor Day. Residents, whose trash is normally collected Monday, are asked to have their trash set out at the curb for pickup as usual. Trash service on any of the city routes will not be affected by the national holiday.
Hall of Fame breakfast
The Salineville-Southern Athletic Hall of Fame Induction breakfast will be held Sept. 11 in the high school cafeteria beginning at 10 a.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. The Class of 2020 and 2021 will be inducted. Inductees include Amy Mobley Harker (1982), Marcy Loch Zehentbauer (1984), Robin Smith Higgins (1984), Phillip Grodhaus (1988), Nathan Melhorn (2009), George Whittaker (coach), Cory Leek (1996), Deanna Sell (2002), Tyler Baker (2008), and Jake Boyle (2011).
Homemade meatballs & sauce
Chester Sacred Heart Ladies Guild will hold a homemade meatballs and sauce fundraiser as a drive thru from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 25 in the Sacred Heart Center parking lot, offering six meatballs with sauce in a quart container for $10. Orders must be placed by Sept. 20 by calling 304-387-3268 or emailing cathyglass1@gmail.com.
Fawcett Community Foundation
The annual meeting of Members of the East Liverpool – Fawcett Community Foundation is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at the offices of Jackman S. Vodrey, 517 Broadway, 3rd Floor, East Liverpool.
The Foundation was established in 1992 as a community organization from which annual grants are made to civic, charitable and cultural programs to benefit residents of the City and also Liverpool and St. Clair Townships.
The Foundation’s 11 directors represent the four East Liverpool city wards and the Mayor’s office, four civic organizations and both nearby townships. They are J. David Buzzard-Liverpool Township; Teresa L. Crawford-Ward 3; Joan A. Dodds-United Way of Southern Columbiana County; Steven K. Hager-Ward 1; Nancy J. Hanselman-Ward 4; Mario H. Hernandez-Liverpool School Board; Dr. Marc D. Hoffrichter-Chamber of Commerce; Mary Ann Hogue-Ward 2; Pastor Larry R. Rose-East Liverpool Ministerial Association-East; Robin J. Tokorcheck-East Liverpool Mayor appointment; and Jackman S. Vodrey-representing St. Clair Township.
Following the members’ meeting, the directors will meet to consider making the 2021 grants. The deadline for applications is July 31 each year, and are now accepted only online via the foundation’s website at www.thefawcettfoundation.com. Select “Apply for funding” and follow the instructions for submitting the application via email.
An individual membership is $10, a lifetime membership $500.
