Woman who traveled to Salem for alleged prostitution charged
SALEM — A Youngstown woman who came to Salem for alleged prostitution activity Friday was charged with soliciting and possession of criminal tools after meeting up with an undercover agent.
The undercover operation targeting individuals selling sex online was conducted by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force with assistance from the Salem Police Department.
Sashe Davis, 28, posted an ad on a known website used for solicitation of prostitution and an undercover task force agent responded to the ad, with Davis allegedly agreeing to various sex acts for money.
When she arrived at a pre-determined meeting location in Salem, she was detained. Davis consented to a search of her cell phone which did not reveal that she was being forced or “ran” by any individual to engage in any prostitution activities. She was provided with contact information for the Harriet Tubman Movement if she would ever need their services. According to its website, The Harriet Tubman Movement “serves people who have been subjected to sex trafficking, prostitution or other forms of exploitation.”
Davis was issued summonses for the two charges and is scheduled for arraignment in Columbiana County Municipal Court on Sept. 3.
