Kristen and Kevin Llewellyn have paintings on display at The Butler Institute of American Art's 85th National Midyear Show. This annual juried show exhibits the artwork of adult artists from throughout the fifty United States and its territories. The exhibition includes accepted works in all two dimensional media, including oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, drawings, prints, photographs and digital. The juror for this year's exhibition selection was contemporary New York artist Paul Ching-Bor.
Artwork was submitted by 269 artists with 727 entries with 140 pieces accepted from 126 artists. Eighteen states were represented. An opening reception was held July 18 at The Butler with many of the artists in attendance. Kristen's entry was an oil painting on panel titled Black Rabbit. Kristen is from Columbiana and her friend Noelle Horton from Michigan came to pose in front of the painting of herself. Kristen has an art studio in Salem above Hofmeister Realty. Kevin who is also from Columbiana resides in Los Angeles where he has an art studio. It was a proud moment for their parents to have two artists having their artwork accepted in the exhibition. Parents are Kathy Reash from Columbiana and Ken Llewellyn of Liberty.
The exhibition is upstairs at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown. The exhibit runs through Sept. 5, 2021. The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. They are closed Mondays and major holidays.
