Minerva's Art & Jazz Week will wrap up with live music and hands-on art opportunities Friday, June 11, and Saturday, June 12.
Friday evening will feature Jazz on High Street in downtown Minerva, with Henrique Alvim playing Brazilian jazz, 5-6 p.m., and Dog Friendly – Erynn and Wilbur Krebs playing jazz with steel drums, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Bring own chairs. In case of bad weather, music will be moved into the Roxy Theatre.
The Market Street Art Spot, 219 N. Market St., will host its monthly reception, 5-9 p.m., with its Pinch a Pot, Plant a Seed exhibit. Featured artwork is by a variety of artists and celebrates flowers and all growing things.
Visitors to the Art Spot can also pick up clay to take home and a link to a video tutorial by Resident Artist Laura Donnelly on how to make a pinch pot. Pots should be returned by June 26 for firing and glazing and can be picked up July 9. Pinch pot kits cost $20.
SummerGirl Studio, 224 N. Market St., will be open Friday, 1-9 p.m., and will host an open house and community art project, in which visitors can participate.
The Minerva Area Historical Society's Haas Museum will be open Friday, 5-8 p.m.
On Saturday, Chalk the Walk Minerva! will take place 10 a.m.-3 p.m., on the sidewalk in front of Minerva Elementary School, 130 Bonnieview Ave. Student and adult artists will create chalk drawings and spectators are welcome. The rain date for this event is Sunday, June 13.
