Perry Township house raided again

Special to the Journal/Perry Township Police Department This is the residence at 1599 Grant St., Salem, in Perry Township, where agents seized suspected methamphetamine and items of paraphernalia during a warrant search Wednesday morning, with charges pending lab results. The Columbiana County Drug Task Force was assisted at the scene by Perry Township Police and the county Sheriff’s Office with Sheriff Brian McLaughlin.

SALEM — A house where Salem Township police arrested a woman wanted on felony drug counts last month was the subject of a drug raid Wednesday.

The county Drug Task Force, assisted by Perry Township Police, Sheriff Brian McLaughlin and the county Sheriff’s Office converged on the property at 1599 Grant St. with a search warrant just after 7 a.m.

The search yielded suspected methamphetamine and numerous items of paraphernalia found throughout the residence. Items were being sent to a lab for testing, with further charges pending.

No arrests were made at the time of the search.

Township police had responded to the Grant Street residence on Feb. 11 after being made aware of multiple active warrants out of Clermont County for Amanda Hines, 33, whose last known address was State Boulevard.

Hines, who previously lived in Cincinnati, was wanted for failure to appear on aggravated possession of drugs and aggravated drug trafficking.

Before being taken to the jail, police said she had to be taken to the hospital for allegedly consuming suspected narcotics described by officers as suspected methamphetamine.

Matthew Soldo, 40, and Harold Bell Jr., 58, both of the Grant Street residence at the time, were charged with felony obstruction after first claiming Hines wasn’t there and not allowing officers to enter to search for her.

Since then, Soldo waived a preliminary hearing in county Municipal Court, with his case bound over for consideration by the county grand jury. Bell was found guilty of an amended charge of obstruction, a misdemeanor, fined and given some jail time.
