EAST LIVERPOOL -- MarthaLee (Martie) Phillips of East Liverpool will be celebrating her 100th birthday on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021.

As part of her celebration, she received her COVID vaccine which she was pretty excited about.

Martie was born in East Liverpool to Milton and Pearl Sines Burns. She had one brother, and a sister.

She was married to Bernard Bowersock, and had two sons, Bernie and Randy. She later married Tom Phillips who had two daughters, Gypsy and Carol. Martie has seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren 17 great-great-grandchildren and several great nieces and nephews.

In her earlier years of activities, Martie held different positions with the East Liverpool PTA, Girl Scouts Senior Leaders and East Liverpool City Hospital Auxiliary. During World War II she worked at Fleming's Confectionery and later at Ogilvie's Department Store.

Martie likes crafting, and enjoys reading and drawing. She's great at remembering stories and visiting with friends.

Over the course of her life, she would want to share with everybody that she has enjoyed many years of fun, excitement, laughter and love. Her secret to longevity would be trusting in God, don't sweat the small things, forgive your enemies and every once in awhile treat yourself to a whiskey and coke

If you would like to brighten her day, birthday cards can be sent to Martie Phillips, 707 St. Clair Ave., Apartment 19, East Liverpool, Ohio, 43920.
