NEW WATERFORD -- Crestview School District bus drivers are not only adjusting to minute-by-minute scheduling changes as the result of the pandemic, but they are also delivering hundreds of meals to the local community.
Transportation Supervisor Richard Burbick recently told the board of education that school bus drivers delivered more than 700 meals to the community through the district's meal program. Other members of staff also helped.
"I would like to publicly thank my drivers for helping me with these ever-changing routes," he said.
He added that while fuel prices have gone up by about 20 cents, bus drivers aren't driving as much due to some students working from home so the district isn't spending much more on fuel.
Superintendent Matthew Manley thanked staff during the recent board of education meeting for adjusting to changes caused by COVID-19.
"These have not been easy times but everybody has pulled together and worked together to make things happen," Manley said.
