The Brightside Project is hosting a walk-up backpack and school supply give away from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at 138 S. Broadway for county students grades K-9. The Brightside Project is equipped and ready to help 250 students. One backpack will be given per qualifying student in attendance while supplies last. All students will have the opportunity to choose their backpack in a safe, outdoor setting. Each backpack contains a variety of school supplies based on the student's grade level. Glass ceiling focus of Leadership program
Leadership Columbiana County, though not able to meet in person, plans to keep the professional development opportunities coming. To align with its mission of developing leaders to act as positive forces and agents of change, LCC is hosting a roundtable discussion, Beyond the Glass Ceiling. The virtual event will be held at noon today on Facebook Live and it will stream live on www.leadershipcolumbianacounty.com. Kim Russo and Dr. Anita Hackstedde will be sharing their stories about how they moved through their careers. They will be discussion how they empower others and tips for both men and women in lean into career and life success. They will also field participant questions.
Living Well with a good meal
The Living Well Church, corner of Maple and 17th in Wellsville, will hold a free carryout community dinner from 5-7 p.m. Friday. The menu: chef salad, roll and dessert. Home delivery is available in Wellsville. Reservations are requested by Thursday; call 382-9653.
Alumni planning drive-up dinner
The East Liverpool Alumni Association will hold a drive-thru chicken and noodles dinner from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10. Cost is $10. Dinners must be ordered in advance at 385-0591. Deadline for ordering is Sept. 4.
Southern giveaway planned
The Highlandtown United Methodist and the Bethel Presbyterian churches are holding another back to school giveaway for Southern Local students from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Inverness Hall, Highlandtown. The bargain basement also will be open.
