SALINEVILLE -- The highway patrol is investigating a one-vehicle fatal traffic accident on state Route 39 near Oak Grove Road in Washington Township at 12:14 a.m. Tuesday.
Paula Elliott, 54, of Lisbon, died at the East Liverpool Hospital following the crash.
According to the patrol, Elliott was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 northeast on Route 39 when she traveled partially off the roadway. She over-corrected when re-entering the roadway and went off the other side. After becoming airborne, the truck struck an embankment causing the truck to flip end over end. As a result of not wearing a seatbelt, Elliott was ejected from the truck.
Excessive speed and alcohol were contributing factors, the patrol said.
