Walmart official says all clear in Calcutta

CALCUTTA — Management at the Walmart here declined to confirm or deny a social media report of bed bugs at their store.

An unnamed member of management for the Calcutta Walmart declined to comment Wednesday morning on the report, but provided contact information for the corporate website.

A poster on a Facebook group explained that she was told of the discovery by a store employee.

Tara Aston, senior manager of corporate communication, commented on behalf of the chain earlier this week. “As soon as we were made aware of this, our third party pest management serviced the store to help ensure a clean shopping environment. This is an isolated incident, and there are no other known issues.’

This is the latest report of bed bugs at a Walmart store.

Last month, police investigated the deliberate release of bed bugs at Edinboro, Pa., Walmart.

There, sealed pill bottles containing bed bugs were left in the clothing department, a pest control specialist found several more bed bugs crawling around a men’s department fitting room.

Starting at $2.99/week.
