Leetonia work set
The intersection of Main and High streets in Leetonia will be closed to all vehicular traffic starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday as the village's water department repairs a main water line. The department will attempt to repair the line without having to turn water off, but if workers are unable to make the repair under pressure, they will have to turn off water to this area. Customers effected by the water turn off will be under a boil order until further notice. Once the water service is restored, customers will experience low water volume, pressure and discolored water until the system settles back down, usually 24 to 48 hours. Friends serving soup
The Trinity Friends Church, 33937 U.S. 30 west of Lisbon, will hold a soup sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8. Available will be chicken noodle, wedding, chili, vegetable beef and ham and bean. Cost is $5 a quart. To order ahead, call 234-567-0255.

Outside the Box sale to benefit SRMC
Salem Regional Medical Center's Look Nook Gift Shop is sponsoring a round-the-clock shoe sale fundraiser with Outside the Box shoes. The sale will start at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, and run continuously through 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7 in SRMC's Private Dining Room, located at the back of the cafeteria on the hospital's ground floor. Outside the Box specializes in comfort footwear and carries brands such as Dansko, Klogs, New Balance, Skechers and more. Brands, styles and sizes vary per sale. SAD focus of library program
Seasonal Affective Disorder is the focus for the Feb. 12 Wellness Wednesday program at the Salem Library. The guest speaker will be Dr. Carla Arlien, licensed psychologist and founder of Apex Psychological Care and Memory Center. According to the American Psychiatric Association Seasonal Affective Disorder, also known as SAD, is a seasonal type of depression or winter depression. Those persons experiencing SAD experience mood changes and depression-like symptoms. Join Dr. Arlien to gain a greater understanding of this problem and the treatments used to promote wellness. Princesses to gather at castle
Children can visit a castle and be a princess for a day at an upcoming event to benefit the Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary. Held from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 28, the event will be at the Whispering Pines Castle, Adams Road, Rogers. Children are invited to wear their favorite fancy dress and get pampered with stations doing their nails, hair, make up and other fun events. A professional photographer will be there to shoot the princesses and print photos for an additional charge. Appetizers and beverages will be served. Cost $5 for adults and $15 for children.
