LISBON -- The Columbiana County Port Authority approved a lease on Monday with Freshmade 3D, which will be taking over some industrial and office space in a building in the industrial park of Leetonia.
Port Authority Executive Director Penny Traina told the board Freshmade 3D specializes in CAD, 3D scanning and large scale 3D printing. Another local business, Humtown Products, will be teaming up with Freshmade 3D. Humtown creates both conventional and 3D molds for specialized products and Freshmade 3D will be utilizing the parts created by Humtown Products to help create their own products, which include large sculptures, automotive restoration and molds.
Traina told the board Freshmade 3D is a portfolio company of the Youngstown Business Incubator, which is expanding to the industrial park in Leetonia.
Freshmade 3D will be using 400 square feet of space for offices and another 1,380 square feet for manufacturing. The base rent is $3 per square foot or $5,340 annually, plus $235 per month for common area maintenance and utilities. Freshmade 3D is sharing the facility with two other businesses.
In other matters:
-- Traina announced the Kent State University Tuscarawas Campus will be holding two programs in early September at the Port Authority's offices on Lincole Place, Lisbon. One program on Sept. 9 will be called So you want to Open a Restaurant, which is geared toward those wanting to start a food service business including food trucks, coffee shops and catering. The other class will be held on Sept. 10 and is called Human Resource 101. Both classes run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a $20 registration fee. -- The Port Authority will be involved in a Complete Count Committee, which is helping to make certain the 2020 census includes everyone by assisting in raising awareness about the upcoming census with the goal of increasing the county's self-response rate so people throughout the county, including in the rural areas are counted.
-- The board approved an agreement with ACCESS to provide internet services to the Port Authority's new location on Lincole Place, Lisbon. The contract begins Sept. 1 and runs through June 2020 with renewals for the next four years after that. The internet service will cost $125 per month and should provide a much larger bandwidth for digital transmissions than what the Port Authority currently is using.
