Homestead Kitchen will partner with farms

COLUMBIANA — Locally grown food will be offered at a new farm to table restaurant at the Town Center this April.

Homestead Kitchen and Cocktails is owned by Kyle Bullen of Springfield, and will offer a mix of what he calls “both rural and urban sensibilities.”

Bullen grew up in Springfield and spent time learning in the restaurant industry in both San Francisco and New York City.

Conveniently located between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, Bullen said the restaurant will offer locally grown food by partnering with local farms.

The local aspect won’t be confined to food alone, however, as the restaurant will also feature locally reclaimed wood for its tables and some walls.

The restaurant will also feature a very unique herb wall behind the bar that will allow restaurant guests the opportunity to see what goes into the meals.

Bullen said that Homestead is a “return to roots,” referring to the Harvey S. Firestone legacy in Columbiana.

Firestone founded the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and was a successful businessman until his passing in 1938.

Tom Mackall, owner and developer of the Town Center, has said he wants to honor Firestone’s legacy there and at the Marketplace at Firestone Farms across the street.

Bullen received planning commission approval for the restaurant back in October.

He said the restaurant should be open by early April.

The restaurant is located at 163 Town Center Ave.

Starting at $2.99/week.
