LISBON -- A Columbiana man was bound over to the grand jury facing potential felony charges for allegedly choking and striking a woman in August.
Anthony Lopshansky, 42, Woodland Avenue, Columbiana, was bound over to the grand jury charged with third-degree felony strangulation, and fourth-degree felony domestic violence for allegedly placing his hands around the throat of a woman, preventing her from breathing, after an argument in Columbiana on Aug. 24. He then allegedly struck the woman in the face causing her to fall back before grabbing her by the throat a second time and fleeing the residence after she broke away from him.
Kieran James, 39, Gonder Avenue, Canton, was bound over to the grand jury charged with fourth-degree felony grand theft auto for allegedly stealing a work truck from a Rogers business after becoming disgruntled the business would not provide him with a ride home after terminating his employment on Aug. 21.
Bryan Dilling, 54, North Ellsworth Avenue, Salem, was bound over to the grand jury charged with third-degree felony failure to verify change of address for allegedly failing to notify the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office at least 20 days prior to changing his residence.
A preliminary hearing was set Sept. 14 for Thomas Holman, 45, Hammond School Road, Wellsville, charged with fifth-degree felony violation of a protection order for allegedly entering the residence of the protected person and "tearing the house apart" in Wellsville on Thursday. The charge is enhanced to a fifth-degree felony due to Holman having previous convictions for violating a protection order on his record.
Wade Schneider, 50, French Street, East Palestine, was fined $150 for disorderly conduct amended from domestic violence for fighting grabbing a woman by the shirt and throwing her down the front porch of a residence before getting on top of her while she screamed at him to get off and fought to get up after an argument in East Palestine on Aug. 22.
James Shaffer, 68, South State Street, New Waterford, was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 days suspended and credit for two days served and fined $100 for menacing for allegedly following two juveniles from the park to a business and threatening to strike them in New Waterford on Aug 26.
Melissa Seltz, 56, East Main Street, East Palestine, was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 27 days suspended and credit for three days served and fined $150 for disorderly conduct amended from domestic violence for allegedly grabbing a man by the throat during an argument causing a minor laceration and three deep scratches to their neck in East Palestine on Aug. 14.
Robert Byrd Jr., 45, 24th Street, Canton, was sentenced to 22 days in jail with credit for 20 days served and fined $400 for two counts of menacing, one of which was amended from aggravated menacing. A third count of menacing was dismissed. The first charge stems on an incident on Dec. 10, 2025, when Byrd sent threatening text messages to a Wellsville woman claiming he would blow up a vehicle and "level down" their residence, as well as sending a picture of a firearm. The second charge stems from an incident on March 9 when he threatened to kick a sheriff's deputy in the head and spit on them while being treated at the East Liverpool City Hospital on March 9.
Benny Miley, 37, Cleveland, was sentenced to 60 days in jail and fined $500 for disorderly conduct amended from obstructing official business, OVI and a marked lanes violation for repeatedly disobeying orders from a police officer during a traffic stop in East Liverpool on April 12.
Tiffany Michalak, 45, Aylesboro Avenue, Boardman, was sentenced to 11 days in jail with credit for one day served and fined $400 for obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and failure to disclose personal information for disobeying orders to exit the vehicle, refusing to identify herself, and pulling away from officers when placed under arrest during a traffic stop in Columbiana on January 22.
Cody Oiler, 30, Thompson Avenue, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 170 days suspended, and credit for 10 days served and fined $250 for telecommunications harassment for continuing to text a St. Clair Township woman after being instructed to stop contacting them on Aug. 12.
Delbert Grimm III, 35, Cora Street, East Liverpool, was fined $100 for a wildlife violation for parking in the grass off the paved parking area at the Highlandtown Lake Wildlife Area on Aug. 23.
A charge of theft against Eileen Newland, 37, North Lima Road, Poland, was dismissed. Newland was accused of allegedly having $20 per pay deposited from a Salem man's paycheck into a bank account which was in her name only from Aug. 22, 2024, through Sept. 18, 2025, and ordered to pay $540 restitution to the victim.
Hunter Hodson, 39, Viewpoint Lane, Lake Milton, was sentenced to 60 days in jail and fined $500 for driving under suspension. He was found not guilty of charges of obstructing official business, OVI, and a marked lanes violation in a jury trial Thursday. He was accused of switching seats with the passenger of a vehicle he was allegedly driving and refusing to provide officers with his information during a traffic stop in Perry Township. He was also alleged to have yelled profanity at and made sexual remarks towards an officer after being taken into custody and transported to the Salem Police Department.
Jenna Nahas, 28, East Taggart Street, East Palestine, was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 177 days suspended and credit for three days served and fined $1,115 for OVI, and speeding.
Patricia Myers, 56, Dansbury Avenue, Wellsville, was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 177 days suspended and credit for three days served and fined $1,215 for OVI, and failure to yield.
A pretrial was set Sept. 14 for Jerry Ludington, 29, Maryland Street, East Liverpool, charged with domestic violence for allegedly pushing a woman inside an East Liverpool residence and tackling her on the walkway outside causing a slight injury to her arm before removing his shorts leaving him naked from the waist down on Sept. 2.
A pretrial was set Sept. 16 for Zachary Montgomery, 42, Queensway Street, East Liverpool, charged with menacing by stalking for allegedly going to an Oakmont Avenue residence in East Palestine and attempting to make contact with the resident beating on doors and windows, and tampering with their security cameras multiple times on July 1.
A pretrial was set Nov. 2 for Kira Dunn, 40, Birch Road, East Liverpool, charged with criminal damaging, possession of a drug abuse instrument, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under suspension. The charge of criminal damaging stems from an incident on March 12, 2025, when Dunn allegedly smashed a man's phone onto a cement parking lot and placing it in a trash can after an argument at a St. Clair Township business on March 12. The charges of possession stem from an incident on April 16, 2025, when she allegedly possessed two bottle caps containing suspected methamphetamines, several baggies and a scale with white powder residue, a hypodermic needle loaded with suspected narcotics, and a baggie of suspected methamphetamine inside of a vehicle which they live in during a traffic stop in St. Clair Township.
A pretrial was set Nov. 3 for Dalton McKinnon, 25, LaCroft Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with theft, possession of drug abuse instruments, obstructing official business, and criminal trespass. The charges of obstruction and possession stem from an incident in East Liverpool on Aug. 20 when he fled from officers on foot, and upon being located and taken into custody possessed a used syringe, a burnt glass pipe, and a cut straw with residue. The charge of criminal trespass stems from an incident on Aug. 23 when he allegedly entered a vacant and condemned property which he did not own in East Liverpool. The charge of theft stems from an incident on Aug. 28 where he allegedly changed into clothing belonging to an East Liverpool business and left without paying for them.
A pretrial was set Nov. 4 for Chelsea Baker, 36, Laura Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with disorderly conduct and making false alarms for allegedly falsely reporting her debit card had been stolen and used without authorization on Aug. 19.
A pretrial was set Nov. 3 for William Carranza, 38, Stein Drivee, Bay Shore, New York, charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools for allegedly arranging to meet with an undercover agent of the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in Unity Township on Aug. 22 for sexual activity in exchange for currency and possessing the currency and the cellular device used to arrange the criminal act at that time.
A pretrial was set Nov. 3 for Vanessa Bates, 34, North Ellsworth Avenue, Salem, charged with illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing a clear bag with a white crystal-like substance and a clear pipe with burnt residue during a traffic stop in Salem on Thursday.
A pretrial was set Nov. 3 for Michelle Daugherty, 56, Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, charged with exterior protection for allegedly failing to make repairs to the exterior of their residence as ordered by the city housing department in East Liverpool on April 13.
A pretrial was set Nov. 4 for Danielle Rauch, 30, Huntercamp Road, Lisbon, charged with open container, OVI, driving under suspension, and failure to display a valid sticker for allegedly possessing an open container of Twisted Tea during a traffic stop in Lisbon on Friday.
A pretrial was set Oct. 20 for J & B Rental Properties, Sprucevale Road, East Liverpool, charged with littering for allegedly having "miscellaneous litter, junk, and debris" on its property in East Liverpool after receiving a written notice ordering its removal on April 27.
A pretrial was set Nov. 10 for Roy Larkins, 60, Steubenville Pike Road, Lisbon, charged with four counts of maximum permissible height of weeds for allegedly failing to cut weeds that had grown to a height of 8 inches at four East Liverpool properties in a timely fashion after being ordered to do so by the city housing department on May 13.
A pretrial was set Nov. 10 for Lonna Cope, 44, state Route 517, Columbiana, charged with OVI, left of center, and speeding.

LISBON -- An East Liverpool woman accused of attempting to take drugs into a governmental facility has pleaded guilty in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.
Crystal L. Christy, 48, LaCroft Avenue, pleaded guilty to illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto grounds of a specified governmental facility, a third-degree felony; aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; and a misdemeanor count of illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly attempting to take drugs into a governmental facility Jan. 14, 2022.
Sentencing is set Oct. 29.
Grand Jury
LISBON -- A Leetonia man accused of fleeing from police officers was served a secret indictment Thursday while in the Columbiana County Jail.
Kyle E. Melott, 31, state Route 344, is charged with failure to comply, a third-degree felony, for allegedly fleeing from police officers attempting a traffic stop May 23.
