LISBON — In Columbiana County Municipal Court, a preliminary hearing was set Dec. 22 for Tiffiany Lyn Franklin, 34, East Fourth Street, East Liverpool, charged with burglary, a fourth-degree felony, for allegedly striking a man’s apartment door with a hatchet, breaking in the door and entering the apartment and entering his bedroom where she confronted him on Dec. 16 in Salineville.

A preliminary hearing was set Dec. 22 for James E. Browne, 66, East Clark Street, East Palestine, charged with failure to verify residence address for allegedly failing to register again for the sex offender registration by Dec. 16.

A pretrial was set Jan. 5 for Travis James White, 32, Cannons Mill Road, East Liverpool, charged with domestic violence for allegedly striking a woman in the face with her phone on Dec. 18 in St. Clair Township.

A pretrial was set March 9 for Melody Yvonne Tullis, 67, Eagleton Road, Lisbon, charged with operating a vehicle impaired first offense and left of center.

LISBON — A woman accused of trying to escape from East Liverpool City Hospital when she was there as a Columbiana County jail inmate on Sept. 15 was sentenced recently to 18 months in prison.

Rachel R. Mazza, 36, West Fourth Street, East Liverpool, entered a guilty plea in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court to the third-degree felony escape charge, then was immediately sentenced. She received credit for 54 days served in jail.

According to an affidavit filed in county Municipal Court, Mazza was caught by a nurse in the hospital hallway and taken back to the room by a deputy sheriff who handcuffed her wrist to the bed and double locked the cuffs. While the deputy stepped outside the door in the hallway to call a supervisor to report what happened, Mazza allegedly slipped her cuffs and ran down the hallway to the exit elevator, riding the elevator to the emergency room and escaping out the main doors. She was later caught Oct. 4 in Wellsville found hiding under a bed by a police K-9.

The 18-month prison term was ordered served at the same time as the 12-month sentence she received earlier this fall for violating the terms of her probation for two drug charges, possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fourth-degree felony, and possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony. Her participation in drug court was dishonorably terminated at the time. She received credit for 59 days served in jail. Mazza possessed cocaine and an amount of fentanyl equal or greater than 1 gram but less than 5 grams on Feb. 15, 2023.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Justina M. DeSarro, 35, last known address Park Boulevard, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for violating the terms of her probation for three separate cases which included charges of third-degree felony tampering with evidence, two counts of trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, a fourth-degree felony, fifth-degree felony possession of drugs and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia. She received credit for 127 days served in jail. She was accused of entering a residence in St. Clair Township without permission on Sept. 4, 2024 while the resident was sleeping and also possessing a paper fold being used as a container to hold an unknown powder inside her purse when placed under arrest. On Feb. 19, 2024, she trespassed at a residence and on Feb. 17, 2024, she possessed bromazolam and tampered with evidence.

— Miah K. Coviello, 31, Mingo Junction, was sentenced to nine months in prison and given a mandatory $5,000 fine for three counts of aggravated possession of drugs, with one a third-degree felony and the other two fifth-degree felonies. Coviello possessed bromazolam, MDMA and methamphetamine on Sept. 21, 2024.

— Jamila Cameron, 28, Lincoln Avenue, East Liverpool, was sentenced to nine months in prison for endangering children, a third-degree felony, with credit for one day served in jail.. Cameron was accused of violating a duty of care for a child who was a little over 1 month old, resulting in physical harm to the child on Dec. 15, 2021.

— Clayton Whitman, 29, Adams Avenue, Salem, was sentenced to 12 months in prison after violating the terms of his probation for aggravated assault, a fourth-degree felony, with credit for 146 days served. His community control was dishonorably terminated. He was accused of causing physical harm to another man on Jan. 29, 2022.

— Charlene Sias, 48, Elkton Road, Lisbon, was sentenced to 10 months in prison for violating the terms of her probation for a 2022 case for aggravated possession of drugs and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both fifth-degree felonies. Her community control was dishonorably terminated. She had been accused of possessing methamphetamine and fentanyl on Aug. 10, 2021.The 10-month prison term was ordered served consecutive, or in addition, to the six months she received in October for fifth-degree felony possession of a fentanyl-related compound for possessing fentanyl on June 3, 2023. That brings her total prison term to 16 months.

— Stephen A. McDermott, 30, Berlin Center, was placed under community control for three years and ordered to serve 45 days in the county jail for attempted tampering with evidence, a fourth-degree felony, fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs and misdemeanor illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia. He was accused of tampering with evidence and possessing methamphetamine and paraphernalia on Dec. 13, 2024.

— Robert G. Mack, 46, Woodland Avenue, Salem, was placed on an intervention plan for 18 months after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing methamphetamine on May 22, 2024.
