LISBON — A Munroe Falls man accused in a sex-for-hire case last year was sentenced to prison for 10 months.

Daniel J. Hosek, 51, appeared for sentencing recently in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court for fourth-degree felony attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and fifth-degree felony possessing criminal tools, with a specification for forfeiture of property.

Besides the prison time, he was ordered to forfeit $160 and he was designated a Tier II sex offender required to register his address with the sheriff’s office of the county where he resides. Charges of importuning and compelling prostitution will be dismissed.

Hosek was accused of requesting sexual conduct for an agreed upon price of $160 from a female he believed to be 15 years old, but who was an officer posing as a minor via a telecommunications device, then drove to Salem on Aug. 1, 2024 for the meeting, with the phone used to make the arrangements in his possession.

LISBON — A Uniontown man with a criminal history of pandering obscenity to a minor, pandering sexual oriented material involving a minor, illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material and gross sexual imposition was fined $400 and sentenced to 90 days on jail with credit for 12 days served for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools recently in Columbiana County Municipal Court. Tyler Forshey, 25, a Tier II sex offender in Ohio and who is tagged by the Ohio Department of Corrections as belonging to a White Separatist Gang, agreed to exchange $40 for sexual activity with an undercover agent on June 13 and traveled to Salem to do so.

A case against a Salineville man charged with strangulation was recently dismissed. The state of Ohio moved to dismiss the charges against Joseph Riggs, 31, state Route 39.

A preliminary hearing was set July 17 for Elliott McMurray, 35, Empire Street, Leetonia, charged with felony-four fleeing and eluding a police officer. McMurray allegedly fled the scene of an altercation at West Chestnut Street in Lisbon on June 15. Officers located McMurray, who was driving a white Dodge Caliber, at a nearby cul de sac and when they attempted to initiate a traffic stop, McMurray fled on North Green Street to state Route 30.

Zachary Taylor, 37, state Route 44, Lisbon, was fined $450 and sentenced to 90 days in jail with 80 suspended and credit for one day served for unlawful restraint and drug paraphernalia. He was also ordered to two years probation, 40 hours of community service and no contact with the victim. Taylor would not let the victim leave an apartment on state Route 45 on March 17. When patted down, a glass pipe was found inside a sock in Taylor’s shirt pocket.

Taylor Wolfe, 30, West Fifth Street, East Liverpool, was fined $241 and sentenced to 180 days in jail suspended for theft. Wolfe was also sentenced to 40 hours of community service, was placed on two years of probation and ordered to stay out of Calcutta Walmart. Wolfe failed to pay for 27 items totaling $240 dollars at the Dresden Avenue Walmart self checkout on April 8.

A pretrial was set Sept. 8 for Sheryl Helman, 71, Oak Street, Salem, charged with criminal damaging. Helman allegedly struck her neighbor’s garage with a riding lawn mower and was seen on video footage turning her mower toward the garage and seemingly hitting it on purpose.

Brian Vieth, 48, McDonald Pa., was fined $750 for engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. He was also sentenced to 90 days in jail suspended and 20 hours of community service. Veith agreed to exchange $40 for sexual activity with an undercover agent and traveled to East Palestine on Jan 8 to do so.

Marecia Neville, 36, Laura Avenue, East Liverpool, was fined $200 and sentenced to 30 days in jail with 29 suspended and credit for one day served and 20 hours of community service for menacing. Neville threatened her neighbor. The neighbor provided emails and audio of Neville making threats. Neville was also ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Jerry Highley, 58, James Drive, Wellsville was fined $250 and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 166 suspended and credit for two days served for assault, amended from domestic violence. Highley is also to perform 20 hours of community serve and have no contact with the victim. Highley punched a male in the back of the head twice while the victim was driving on June 10.

A pretrial hearing was set Oct. 6 for Kristina Williamson, 35, Strawberry Lane, East Liverpool, charged with assault. Williamson allegedly, following an argument with a passenger in her car and after the passenger exited the car, hit the passenger with the door of her vehicle while driving away and dragging the woman before leaving the scene. She reportedly told officers she only hit the victim “a little bit” when questioned.

A pretrial hearing was set Oct. 16 for Angela Pascuzzi, 43, Old Fredericktown Road East, East Liverpool, charged with telecommunications harassment. Pascuzzi allegedly was advised by a man to stop contacting him on March 13 and she messaged him again. He provided proof of both to the St. Clair Township Police Department.

James McVay, 41, Monroe Avenue, Lisbon was fined $200, sentenced to 30 days in jail with 28 suspended and credit for two days served and ordered to one year of probation for disorderly conduct. McVay was intoxicated in public on Broadway Avenue in Salem on April 6.

A preliminary hearing was set June 26 for Adam M. Gallimore, 38, East Liverpool Road, Lisbon, charged with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and misdemeanors of driving under suspension, left of center and fictitious display of a sticker following a traffic stop on state Route 7 in Fairfield Township June 21 in which a hypodermic needle was seen on the driver’s side floor board and he was manipulating something in his pants, which was revealed to be approximately 2.1 ounces of suspected meth.

A preliminary hearing was set July 24 for Corey R. Yoho, 31, Pennsylvania Avenue, East Liverpool, charged with improper handling of a firearm, a third-degree felony, and misdemeanors of OVI first offense and OVI breath .08 grams first offense after being found as the driver of a disable vehicle June 22 in which he has a firearm in his back pocket while intoxicated.

A pretrial was set July 10 for Timothy Gregory Thrasher, 29, Lincoln Avenue, Wellsville, charged with assault for allegedly striking the victim in the head twice while she was holding a juvenile June 22 at an East Liverpool home.

A pretrial was set Sept. 15 for John Paul Carson, 68, Boardman, charged with engaging in prostitution and possession of criminal tools for allegedly arranging for sexual conduct with two females for $260 via a known website and traveling to East Palestine June 20.

A pretrial was set Sept. 15 for Brian R. Davis, 47, state Route 45, Lisbon, charged with OVI first offense, speeding, no seat belt, marked lanes, no turn signal, no license plate light, resisting arrest and obstructing official business for allegedly resisting arrest following a OVI investigation June 22 in Lisbon.

A pretrial was set Sept. 15 for Mitchell L. Cyrus, 39, West Main Street, New Waterford, charged with OVI second offense, OVI refusal second offense and marked lanes.

Montana M. Matheson, 24, North Beaver Street, Lisbon, was sentenced to 180 days in jail (suspended), fined $650 and had her license suspended for one year for physical control.

Mathew D. McVay, 42, West Pershing Street, Salem, was sentenced to 90 days in jail (suspended), fined $200, placed on two years probation and ordered to complete 40 hours community service and make restitution of $197.44 to Marc’s in Salem for taking energy drinks without paying over several months as an employee.

Carter Thomas Davidson, 18, Manor Drive, Columbiana, was fined $300 and ordered to complete 30 hours community service for speeding and reckless operation amended from OVI. A charge of underage OVI was dismissed.

Herbert J. Jones, 37, Union Lane, Midland, Pa., was sentenced to 10 days in jail and fined $200 for resisting arrest for fleeing from officers attempting to serve a warrant in East Liverpool Oct. 24, 2024.

Dawn M. Lazar, 65, East State Street, Salem, was sentenced to 180 days in jail (suspended) and fined $250 for hit-skip/leaving the scene of a crash.

Evan M. Boothe, 32, Sawburg Avenue, Alliance, was fined $50 for expired license and improper registration.

Connor James Conaway, 19, West North Avenue, East Palestine, was fined $150 for speeding.

Donald Leroy Johnson III, 28, Maple Street, East Liverpool, was fined $200 for driving under suspension and driving while texting.
